Meir, age 68, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. She seemed to know that this life is a test and she passed it valiantly. Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory J She was beloved of her students because she would not allow them to fail or to achieve less than what they were capable of doing.Emma's life is a legacy of faith and endurance. For 44 years, she was a first grade teacher and believed in teaching values and integrity along with reading and writing. She attended college in Logan at Utah State University and earned her degree in elementary education. She received an award for never being absent or tardy for all of the years in elementary and secondary school. On October 8, 1966, her beloved husband Mel, passed away suddenly and thereafter, Emma taught school to support her family of three.Emma firmly believed in the power of education. Emma never complained and was a tireless worker and perfectionist. Later, they built a home next to Emma's parents so she could care for her father after her mother passed away. ![]() The couple continued to live with Emma's parents so she could care for her mother along with her family. She married her eternal companion, Melvin Leo Schwartz on Jin the Salt Lake Temple. She would leave for Logan early on Monday morning and attend college during the week and return on the weekends to cook and clean for her family and care for her mother. She also cared for her father and three brothers. She exemplified charity in all she did.From an early age she cared for her mother who had been paralyzed by a series of strokes. ![]() She served in the auxiliaries of the church and as ward organist. Emma fulfilled her divine earthly mission with honor, integrity, and exactness.Emma's life was one of service to others. She was welcomed by countless others whose lives she had touched and changed. She was re-united with her husband Melvin, her mother and father (James Hamilton Martin and Pauline Christensen Martin) and three brothers (James "Pepper" Martin, Edward Rich Martin and Paul Andrew Martin).
